Herd of Deer Run Amok in Indiana Shopping Center

Shoppers at a Corydon, Indiana shopping plaza were in for a rude shock when a small herd of deer visited, breaking windows and running through the stores. According to WDRB, the deer dropped in around Saturday morning during the shopping rush.

“All of the sudden we just heard a lot of really loud noises and then there were like ten deer running up and down the strip,” said Katie Hall, a stylist who works in nearby Fiesta Hair. “It was crazy they were running to all the windows. And they went over to the Fashion Bug.”

The deer seemed to be especially attracted to a good deal, because the herd spent most of their time in the Dollar Tree next door. Shoppers scattered and sought shelter where they could. A group of panicked animals is always a serious threat, even though shoppers and emergency responders saw the humor in the situation after. To the owners of the stores however, it was no laughing matter. The monetary damage is still being calculated.

Unfortunately, two deer died in the incident. One was struck by a car and the other suffered fatal injuries after crashing through a window. No human injuries were reported.
