Thrilling Shootout for Collegiate Athletes in Kansas City

For the eighth year, Powder Creek Shooting Park hosted the Kansas State University sponsored, “Shootout At The Crossroads”, March 9-10, in Lenexa, Kansas. This year’s competition attracted 31 college teams with 160 shooters, making it the second largest college shotgun tournament in the country. Squads from as far away as Virginia Tech and The University of Idaho were welcomed. Scheduled events included American trap, double trap, skeet and sporting clays. The High Overall Honors in men’s and women’s contests were awarded an ornate belt buckle while the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place team and individual champions were presented elegant medals for their superior performances. In addition to facing notable rivalries, competitors had to overcome frustrating weather elements, as frosty Kansas squalls hindered the contestants throughout the two-day event.

Powder Creek generously offered a $1000 scholarship to one lucky shooter. All participants were eligible based on qualifying application criteria such as financial need, academic status and their scoring performance.
