Mastry Sponsorship for Florida’s King of the Beaches Hits 20 Years

As the Old Salt Fishing Foundation primes for its 20th anniversary King of the Beach Fishing Tournament, Mastry Engine Center has stood behind it every step of the way. To be held April 25-27 in Madeira Beach, Florida, the tournament benefits local charities. Mastry serves as a platinum sponsor and will also donate an 8 hp Mercury 4-stroke outboard as a prize.

This year’s King of the Beach boasts a $20,000 first place prize with overall payouts estimated at $80,000. It’s the largest King and Spanish Mackerel tournament on Florida’s West Coast. As part of the event’s 20th anniversary, Mastry’s engine donation will be given to the angler weighing in with a fish closest to 20 lbs. King of the Beach also weaves a food festival, live music, kid’s activities, local vendors and a boat show into one spectacular event, drawing more than 10,000 competitors and supporters.

“It’s fantastic to see how King of the Beach has grown over the years, and we’re proud to have been a sponsor since the beginning. The community support of this event is amazing. Many of our customers participate in King of the Beach, and Old Salt is a great organization,” said Brent Magsig of Mastry Engine Center.

“We couldn’t host an event of this size, nor be able to contribute to local charities, without the help of our sponsors and participating anglers.

Mastry is like family to us, and we appreciate their generous company participation as a platinum sponsor of King of the Beach. The engine donation is also a fun way to reward a participant who doesn’t land that first-place contender fish,” said Tom Verdensky, Old Salt president and tournament director.

Community charities benefitting from the 2013 King of the Beach tournament include The Children’s Dream Fund for children with life-threatening illnesses; P.A.R.C. which provides opportunities for those with developmental disabilities; and the Teen Arts, Sports, and Cultural Opportunities organization.

The all-volunteer Old Salt Fishing Foundation was founded more than 40 years ago to aid local oceanographic and scientific studies. Its mission is to support family interaction and camaraderie through fishing, science, conservation and education. Mastry is a marine and industrial engine distributor specializing in OEM and repower projects, education and training for more than 50 years. Its network of hundreds of authorized dealers spans the southeastern US and Caribbean.
