Scholastic Pistol Program Announces Northeast Spring Collegiate Regional Hosted by the SIG SAUER Academy in New Hampshire

The SIG SAUER Academy will host the Scholastic Pistol Program’s (SPP) Northeast Spring Collegiate Regional at their facility in Epping, NH April 15. This will be the first major SPP event in the Northeast this year following ones in the warmer climes of the Southwest, Southeast and the Midwest. Teams from throughout New England will be competing in both the Varsity (centerfire) Division as well as the Junior Varsity (rimfire) Division.

“The SIG SAUER Academy is one of the finest training facilities in the country so what a better place to host an SPP regional”, said Adam Painchaud, director SIG SAUER Academy, “ SPP is one of the premier youth shooting sports programs so it was a natural fit for us”.

This regional will run concurrently with the Scholastic Clay Target Program’s (SCTP) New England Clay Cup held at the nearby Minute Man Shooting Club, Billerica, MA. SPP / SCTP are youth shooting sports programs administered by the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF). This will be the second concurrent event for SSSF programs in 2013 and follows the SPP Midwest Spring Regional / SCTP High School Regional April 5-7 in Sparta, IL. “These duel events require a great deal of coordination between SSSF staffers and match directors but it is well worth the effort”, said Scott Moore, SPP national director. “With teams being able to shoot two different disciplines during one trip we are able to increase participation in the scholastic shooting sports”.

SPP is supported, in part, by founding partners GLOCK, Smith & Wesson and Action Target. Additional partners include Atlanta Arms & Ammunition, PACT Timers, Tactical Solutions and Winchester Ammunition among others.

For additional information on the new SPP program or to register your team, contact Director Scott Moore via e-mail at jsmoore357@yahoo.com.

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) is responsible for all aspects of the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and Scholastic Pistol Program (SPP) across the United States, including participant registration, coaches, state coordinators, state and national championships, promotion, communications, websites, public relations and growth strategies The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation exists to raise funding and other resources for Youth Development Programs in the shooting sports industry.

SCTP and SPP are youth development programs, originally developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), where adult coaches and volunteers model sportsmanship, responsibility, honesty, ethics, integrity, and teamwork while using shooting sports programs to teach these and other positive life skills to the athletes.
