BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship in Alabama Registration Drawing to a Close

The 2013 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Cabela’s kicks off in Florence, AL May 20-24 for the nation’s largest collegiate fishing event.  Some of the biggest names in bass fishing will join hundreds of students in celebrating this prestigious annual event.  Berkley Pro Mike Iaconelli, Cabela’s Pro Jeff Kriet, Yamaha Pro Ish Monroe, as well as others, will be on hand to share in the festivities throughout event week.

Official practice begins Monday, May 20 and continues through Wednesday, May 23.  Afternoon activities kick off with Yamaha Angler Appreciation Night Tuesday, May 22.  Students will be treated to dinner, mingle with pros, and have time to take Ranger/Yamaha demo rides and get help from the respective service crews.

On Wednesday, registration will begin with a sponsor reception hosted by dozens of partners, followed by dinner and pre-tournament meeting.

According to Wade Middleton, co-founder of the ACA and President of CarecoTV, “Our team is excited for the upcoming event.  Each year sponsors want to get more and more involved and do more for the students at the BoatUS Championship.  The anglers are in for an incredible week as our guests, thanks to all our supporters.  As competitors, they’re in for a real treat on Pickwick.”

Fishing starts Thursday morning and will end Friday with the crowning of a new national champion.  Along the way, students will be provided with breakfast and lunch, plus daily weigh-in meals courtesy of the ACA and sponsors.

Online registration is currently open through Tuesday, April 30, 2013 and all university-recognized clubs are allowed to register up to three two-person teams for the 2013 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Cabela’s.

Positions are still available “BUT” students need to reserve their spots NOW. Clubs who know they would like to participate, but who do not have their competitors selected yet, should go ahead and register a team (or teams), even if the actual anglers may change.  The ACA will accept registration changes up until May, but anglers need to reserve their spot as soon as possible.

Every club is guaranteed entry for one two-person team and no team will earn more than three total entries. The following criteria will be used to determine which school clubs receive entry for two or three two-person teams:

Past champions (2006 – 2012) earn an extra spot per title

Teams also earn one extra spot for fishing each of the:

  • 2012 Collegiate Bass Fishing Open
  • 2013 Cabela’s Collegiate Big Bass Bash
  • 2013 Collegiate Bass Fishing Open

Remember, every team gets one.  This file reflects “additional” teams beyond the first team.  If your team has earned two “additional” that makes for a total of three – no schools will have more than three teams.  All events that earn extra slots in the BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship have concluded, so the list is complete. Teams that have not registered up to their maximum allotment must do so by the close of registration.
