Vasque Ultra Runner Callahan Takes Second in Collegiate Peaks 50 in Colorado

Vasque ultra runner Duncan Callahan took second place in his first race of the season this past weekend at Collegiate Peaks in Buena Vista, Colorado. The run, which offers both 25 and 50-mile options, drew over 300 participants. For the 50-mile race, participants follow a horseshoe-shaped course, starting at 8,500 feet and rising over 2,500 feet in elevation. Callahan beat his previous course time from 2 years ago by 20 minutes, finishing the race in 7 hours, 12 minutes.

“It was a perfect day for a race, great weather, amazing scenery and an overall positive vibe on the course,” says Callahan. “I raced in the Vasque Pendulums, my shoe of choice right now, and they performed great over the terrain and throughout the entire race.”

Callahan, who lives and trains at 7000’ in Gunnison, Colorado is an ultra-marathon coach who counts two Leadville Trail 100 wins, a Moab 100 win, a Grand Mesa Ultra 50 and a Spring Desert Ultra 50 win among his accomplishments. He currently trains and races in the new Vasque Pendulum, a minimalist-minded shoe with a 6mm drop and a tough EVA mid-sole and TPU plate to shield the foot from damage from rocks and roots on the trail.
