U.S. Senator Alan K. Simpson (Ret.) to Open 2013 Shooting Industry Masters in Wyoming

U.S. Senator Alan K. Simpson will be kicking off the 2013 Shooting Industry Masters as the keynote speaker at the Masters Welcome Reception hosted by the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. Senator Simpson served as Wyoming’s U.S. Senator from 1979-1997 and is the chairman emeritus of the Board of Trustees of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West.

“As a son of Wyoming, I’ve grown up with firearms,” says Simpson. “We have avid hunters and target shooters in our state, so our guns are as natural as our fishing poles. I always look forward each year to participating in the Center’s own Invitational Shootout in August — and now, adding the Shooting Industry Masters events to the mix is surely ‘icing on that proverbial cake’ for those of us who strongly support the shooting sports.”

Following Senator Simpson, Cody Mayor Nancy Tia Brown will be welcoming Masters participants to the City of Cody and to the Cody Shooting Complex. Also invited are numerous other local dignitaries and government officials. Wyoming State Senator H.R. Coe (Rep.) is planning to attend all three evening events.

Congressman Cynthia Lummis (Rep.) is expected to be in attendance and to participate in the shooting competition. “We’re thrilled to have such strong support from the state of Wyoming. To have all these esteemed members of the Wyoming political arena interested in the Masters is a telling statement of the hospitality and commitment from the City of Cody and the State of Wyoming,” said Randy Molde, Masters chairman.

The Shooting Industry Masters, owned and operated by FMG Publications, is celebrating its 11th year as the premier industry-only shooting match. The sold-out event begins Thursday evening, July 18 with the Welcome Reception and continues through July 20 with the Masters “Mystery Course of Fire” and 16 Side Events.

The Masters is a fundraiser for NSSF’s First Shots Program, raising almost $150,000 in the past 3 years. For more information on the Shooting Industry Masters, visit www.shootingindustry.com/masters or contact Shari Legate, Masters event manager at shari@shootingindustry.com or 719-237-4609.
