Dave Sevigny Wins the Open Division at the Area 5 Championship in Illinois

The GASTON J. GLOCK style LP sponsored Sevigny Performance Team again walked away with top honors at the Area 5 Championships held at PASA Park in Barry, Illinois this June 13 -16, 2013. Three hundred and four (304) competitors entered the Area 5 Championship in the six USPSA equipment divisions. Dave won 11 of 14 stages in the Open division for a decisive 13% margin of victory over the second place finisher. Team member Brooke Sevigny, competing in the Limited division match, won her first Ladies Limited title at an Area championship.

“I am happy with my Open match results, but even more so with Brooke’s first Area Championship win in Ladies Limited. She shot a good percentage too,” Dave Sevigny commented. “We both compete with several different guns and divisions each year and this was a good chance to dust off the race guns. The Limited, Open and Production Nationals are approaching later this season.”

The Area 5 Championship is a United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) event that contains Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan, Kentucky and West Virginia.

The Sevigny Performance Team will next begin training for the Pro-Am Championship and Steel Challenge World Championship. These high adrenaline speed-steel tournaments are being held back-to-back this coming July at the Universal Shooting Academy in Frostproof, FL. Pro-Am features knock down steel targets with a fixed “par” time to complete each field course and requires movement between each shooting position to hit as many pieces of steel before the time expires. Steel Challenge requires competitors to hit five steel targets from stationary positions at distances of 7 to 35 yards for a timed match score. Lowest cumulative time for all eight stages wins the match.
