Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Results for the Missouri River at South Sioux City, Nebraska

This past Saturday June 22nd, the Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail hit the waters of the Missouri River at South Sioux City, Nebraska. In the event over 45 top anglers from 5 different states were competing not only for cash and prizes, but the opportunity to qualify for the 2013 Cabela’s King Kat Classic. This year’s Cabela’s King Kat Classic will be held September 26-28, 2013 on Kentucky Lake at Camden, Tennessee. Be sure to check out our new website at: www.kingkatusa.com. “These anglers had a very challenging day with thunder, lighting, rain and 25 mph winds until 2:30PM”, said Outdoor Promotions CEO Darrel VanVactor. “The river was running hard current and muddy making conditions very tough for the 46 anglers from 5 states in event”, added VanVactor.
Results for the Top 5 Teams
Taking first place was the team of Dick Hinrachsen of Akron, Iowa and Jeremy Ertman of Hawarden, Iowa with a weight of 37.5 pounds and earning $3,000.00. The team also captured big fish of the event with a 11.60 catfish earning the team an additional $400.00. Dick and Jeremy fished the Vermillion area in 16 to 25 feet of water anchored down fishing in hard current of 5 to 6 MPH. The team used cut shad to catch 14 fish including the big fish of the tournament.
In second place was the well known team of John Jamison of Spring Hill, Kansas and Mark Thompson of Williamsburg, Kansas weighing in 36.48 pound and earning $1,500.00. John and Mark were drifted bumping bottom in the area around South Sioux Marina in 18 to 20 feet of water using Gold Eye to catch 25 fish for the day.
Third place went to Nicholas Ripley of Carlisle, Iowa and Jim Bierdaum of West Des Moines, Iowa with a weight of 27.92 and earning $500.00. The team fished the Vermillion area in fast current, 20 to 26 feet deep using cut shad while anchored down to catch 10 fish for the day.
The Akron, Iowa team of Keith and Kelvin Horn took fourth place with a weight of 22.46 pounds and earning a new 20 pound Cat River Anchor. Keith and Kelvin were fishing the Dakota City area on Anchor in 8 to 10 feet of water using cut bait to catch 8 fish for the day
Fifth place went to John Orr of Burbank, South Dakota and James Orr of Mitchell, South Dakota weighing in 21.92 pounds. John and James were fishing the Burbank area in 6-20 feet of water using cut bait to catch 7 fish for the day.
