Video: Mother Bear Attempts to Free Cub Locked in Dumpster

Wildlife officials cannot stress enough to people living in bear territory about the importance of keeping trash away from bears. Bears are opportunistic omnivores and will readily dig through trash bins for some late-night leftovers, such as this family of three. A sow and two cubs hit the jackpot with an open dumpster in Azusa, California. One of the young bears scrambled inside and knocked the lid closed behind it, leading its mother to frantically claw at the lid in an attempt to free it. According to KTLA, the cub was trapped inside for a little over an hour before officials from the Department of Fish and Wildlife were able to release it.
