Video: French Sika Deer Climbs on Roof, Refuses to Come Down

This sika deer had an odd way of auditioning for one of Santa’s reindeer: it waited on top of a garage in the French village of Verneuil-sur-Indre. According to the Daily Mail, firefighters and police arrived on the scene to find the deer pacing across the slippery roof, occasionally falling. It is believed that the deer fell onto the garage from an adjoining garden. Officials were able to peg the animal with a tranquilizer dart, but the deer remained alert and eager to fight off rescue attempts. It was only when a canvas was placed over the roof that the animal was able to get enough traction to hop back onto the garden behind the garage.
