Video: Bizarre Object Found in Utah Lake Ice

Can you identify what this strange object is?

A video of this bizarre, organic-looking spotted circle is currently trending on Facebook. It reportedly occurred somewhere in Utah, but a more concrete location and date has not been specified. Theories, however, are plentiful. More outlandish ones say it was caused by Arctic jellyfish, ice fungi, and even Bryozoan blobs. Others believe the circle owes its origin to weather conditions, the movement of underwater currents, or just a prank by some bored—but creative—ice fishermen. Perhaps the most popular is that the circle was actually created by a thrown cup of coffee. This is backed up by a nearby Starbucks cup, but can a mere coffee spill cause such a regular pattern on the surface of the ice?

Inside the holes are also floating bits of material that the cameraman described as “slimy.”

They were quick to speculate that the circle was made by aliens, and sure enough, plenty of people on the internet are eager to write the incident off as another brush with extraterrestrial life.

What do you think? Would you fish near this thing, or get as far away as you can?

Video includes some harsh language.
