Video: Bored Coyote Plays Fetch with Itself

What do coyotes do when they’re bored? The usual answer to this question is that they look for something to eat, but this coyote seems to have found something better instead: a half-deflated dog ball that somebody left behind.

“I saw this guy playing on the hill while I was getting ready for work,” wrote YouTube user Evnissyen, who shot this video in Ontario, Canada. “It’s pretty rare to see a coyote this close to the house at all, and totally unexpected to see one playing with the neighbour-dog’s ball in broad daylight!”

It is a rare peek into a coyote’s playful side, although it is worrisome that the predator feels comfortable enough to lounge around on the property. Coyotes do not get along with domestic dogs and will even prey on smaller pets given the opportunity.

We’re not sure about you, but we also think their neighbor’s dog is going to be a little bit confused as to why there’s coyote saliva all over the ball.
