Video: Dog Encounters Perplexed Bobcat

We’re not sure whether this bobcat views dogs as possible playmates or tasty snacks, but it’s probably a good thing that the homeowner didn’t let it inside. The video below was recorded near Ontario’s Tyson Lake after Marsha Steinke noticed her dog barking at something outside the door. Judging from how hard the bobcat was trying to get in, we’re going to assume that it was after something else than just getting out of the cold.
Generally bobcats are not considered a big threat to large pets or children, but wildlife officials say that the critters can still be dangerous. Bobcats have been known to prey on smaller cats and dogs, and could be a hazard for even adult humans. Don’t be fooled by their appearance. They may look like house cats, but these wily predators come well equipped to defend themselves.
