Video: Florida Woman Runs into Mountain Lion on Bridge

If you live in cougar territory and you enjoy hiking, there’s a good chance that you’ve been close to a mountain lion and didn’t even notice. Cougars are notoriously stealthy cats, and have on occasion given the odd hiker or hunter the scare of their lives. Yet in Florida, the cougar—or panther, as some call it—population is quite slim. That makes this encounter in the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary all the more unexpected. On Facebook, Tina Dorschel posted this video of her walking on what appeared to be an elevated path or bridge when she was suddenly faced with a running mountain lion. Thankfully in her case, the cat ran straight past her.

“Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god,” the woman uttered as the predator came towards her.

That’s probably what would be running through our minds during this encounter too.

Video has some light profanity.

On on early morning nature walk we saw a gator, a snake, frogs, pretty birds, and had this unexpected encounter. (Warning…curse word at end!)
