Video: How Many Feet of Ballistic Gel Will a Cannon Round Penetrate?

I’m not sure anyone has ever asked how many feet of ballistic gel a 1.2lb 37mm cannon projectile will penetrate, until now.

Thankfully for the ballistically curious and history buffs out there YouTuber Iraqveteran8888 decided to test out a 37mm cannon on a 11 ballistic gel blocks. The 1.2lb 37mm cannon projectile has about 45,000 ft/lbs of energy coming out of the muzzle which is significantly more than even a .50 BMG. Suffice it to say the test probably could have used some more gel blocks. The round ripped through everything including the backstop with no problem.

This test might work better with a swimming pool sized ballistic gel block.
