Not much else screams freedom quite like grabbing an American flag, throwing on some Slayer, and head-banging in the face of a hurricane. This guy ignored all the warnings to evacuate his home, then faced hurricane Matthew head-on in the most American way possible.

While hurricane Matthew was making landfall, millions of people were taking cover. In the meantime, this rebellious Floridian saw an opportunity. Lane Pittman, of Jacksonville, Florida, grabbed an American flag and ran out into the storm to show a little patriotism.

There’s no doubt about it: Not much else screams freedom quite like Lane’s long red hair and Old Glory whipping in the wind and rain.
