Hunter Killed from Treestand Fall

Unfortunately, we have another case that should remind hunters everywhere to always wear a safety harness when hunting from a treestand.

According to UpNorthLive, and the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a 56-year-old man who was believed to have fallen from his treestand while bowhunting Saturday evening.

Deputies said Robert Jankowski was found by some family members after not returning to camp following an afternoon hunt. Jankowski had not been wearing a safety harness and apparently fell from his treestand. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is another sad reminder that safety should always be a hunter’s No. 1 concern. Always wear a safety harness, and don’t let yourself assume everything will be alright. One minor slip up could be fatal; watch OutdoorHub’s recent article to see how fast something can go wrong.

Be sure to get yourself one of the many safety harnesses that are available on the market today, such as a Hunter Safety System Lifeline. If you already have one of these great harnesses, keep nagging your buddy – who doesn’t have one – to get himself one. You could save his life.
