These amazing images capture nature at work: a bobcat stalks a mallard from a snowbank while the duck swims in icy-cold water below.

The bobcat lurks on the snowy bank just above the duck, waiting for the right moment to make its move.

The bobcat strikes from above, dive-bombing into ice-cold water right on top of its prey.

The duck never saw it coming.

Alas, the bobcat now has a nice duck dinner ahead for the evening, which makes diving into that freezing cold water more than worth it.
