Video: Fishermen Come Across Car-Sized Manta Ray Off Hilton Head Island

Speaking of massive stingrays, you have to include manta rays in that conversation, and these fishermen caught a glimpse of one the size of a (not so) small car swimming in the water off the coast of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Big manta rays are said to have a “wing span” around 22 feet – although some have reached as large as 30 feet! The manta ray that Chip Michalove, owner of Outcast Sport Fishing, wasn’t quite that mammoth, but still nothing to shake a stick at. Michalove and his crew estimated the ray to be about 16 feet wide.
We usually see the Outcast Sport Fishing crew hammering sharks off Hilton Head Island, so seeing this huge manta ray must have been a sweet surprise for the anglers aboard.
