Video: Fly Angler Tackles (Think Football) a Giant Trout

When you hook the fish of a lifetime, you’ll do almost anything to land it.
Need proof?
Check out fly fishing guide Matt Heron in California. Like all good guides, he fishes on a day off from work, and on this afternoon, he hooks a monster brown trout on a tiny mayfly. The stream isn’t large, most of it appears to be less than knee deep, but the big fish still manages to run Matt up and down the stream bed.
Finally, Matt reaches for the net – perhaps a touch too soon – and the trout isn’t close to being tired. And as it jumps/swims out of the net, Matt is forced to pounce on the fish. And lucky for him, he makes a good open-stream tackle.
Congrats, Matt, on a tremendous brown trout!
