Video: Man Slapped with Fine and Asked to Put Leash on Snakes

A man in South Dakota was fined $190 for allowing his pet snake to “run at large.”

Now, we know what you’re thinking, snakes can’t run . . .

Which is exactly why Jerry Kimball, the owner of the Fire Bee Ball Python, was so baffled. He said an animal control officer suggested he use a leash to restrain the reptile. Kimball thought the officer was merely playing an April Fool’s Day joke on him because it was April 1 when this all occurred.

But Jerry found out it was no joke, when he was slapped with a $190 fine for “animals running at large,” Argus Leader reports.

According to reports, Kimball wasn’t even upset about the ticket itself, rather, he found the animal control officer’s suggestion that he put a leash on his snake more ridiculous.

“He was literally asking me to put a rope around my snake,” Kimball said. “I was like ‘dude, no.’ I was dumbfounded.”

Seems like an enclosure of some sort is the best solution if Kimball wants to bring his snakes into a public place.
