Bear Gives Runners Extra Pep In Their Step During 10 Mile Race

Runners in the Garden of the Gods 10 Mile Run in Colorado Springs, Colorado, had a little extra motivation to run faster when an unexpected – and hairy – competitor showed up and ran the course on all fours.

The candid photo, captured by Donald Sanborn, shows a bear crossing in front of a pack of runners as they run down a path in the Garden of the Gods 10 Mile Run.

According to MLive, racers said the bear entered the race at around the 5-mile mark.

Already today, we’ve covered a bear that was seen swimming across a river in Florida, and now a bear running in a 10 mile race? It all begs the question: Just what in the heck are all these bears training for?
