Video: Teenager Wakes Up to ‘Crunching Sound’ With His Head Inside a Black Bear’s Mouth

How’s this for a wake up call?

A teenager working as a camp staffer at Glacier View Ranch, a Christian camp site located northwest of Boulder, Colorado, was attacked in his sleep by a black bear biting his head and dragging him out of his sleeping bag, KMGH-TV is reporting.

According to the 19-year-old, only being identified as Dylan, he woke up to a “crunching sound” and his head inside the mouth of a black bear. Dylan said the bear dragged him straight out of his sleeping bag about 12 feet before letting go.

“The crunching noise, I guess, was the teeth scraping against the skull as it dug in,” Dylan told Denver7.

This is very strange behavior from black bears, and it just adds to the list of strange attacks being reportedly recently.

After the attack, which occurred around 4 a.m., Dylan was taken to the hospital to be briefly treated for his injuries and has already been released, according to Jennifer Churchill with Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

As for Dylan, who teaches wilderness survival at the camp, he says he’s “not afraid of the bears.” “You just have to be aware and respect the animals.”

Now that’s one heck of a story to tell when someone asks about your summer!
