Lobaev Arms Sets New “World Record” With a 4,604 Yard Shot

Lobaev Arms is reporting they have set a new world record for longest sniper shot after hitting a target from an astounding distance of 4,210 meters! (4,604 yards)
After taking a look at the photos posted on Instagram, we determined a Lobaev SVLK-14 Sumrak (Twilight) bolt-action rifle was used to make the shot.
The post on Lobaev Arms’ Instagram makes a point to call out everyone who assisted in making the shot, and says it simply couldn’t have been done alone. With so many things to take into consideration – wind, atmospheric pressure, temperature, even the Coriolis effect comes into play when taking that kind of shot – it takes a concerted effort to break a world record of that magnitude.
We thought we should point out, however, that there were several hundred shots fired prior to the one that broke the record. Unlike the time when a Canadian special forces sniper broke the same world record for hitting a single shot from 3,450 meters. (2.14 miles)
The only difference was the Canadian’s was a kill shot taken in the field of battle.
Good shooting, fellas!
