Authorities in Mexico are perplexed after recovering a sedated tiger cub that had been placed in a plastic container, and shipped via express mail.
The Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection reports the Bengal tiger cub was discovered when a K9 was working to sniff out potential contraband in a load of mail at the New Tlaquepaque Central Bus Station in Jalisco.
The cub – which is estimated to be around 2 months old – was sedated, dehydrated and underweight, but otherwise in good health.
UPI reports it was transferred to the Wildlife Rescue Directorate of the Municipality of Tlajomulco de Zuniga.
This case is ongoing, and remains under investigation.
