Morel hunters, your season has officially started!
A user on Morels.com posted a photo of what’s very likely the first morel mushroom found in 2018. The morel enthusiast, pastorj, announced the news to the morel community by posting the photo above to a forum circled around finding these tasty morsels.
Another user asked pastorj for a general location so he could check soil temperatures relative to where he lives, and pastorj said he found this early rising morel in Augusta, Georgia.
It might still be too early for most, but it couldn’t hurt to drive out to your favorite honey-hole to get a status update.
