Video: Boater Films Hammerhead Shark Chasing Tarpon Off Coast of Anna Maria Island

Whether it’s a 17-foot python in the everglades, or a panther swiping a pet cat right off a driveway, animal encounters in Florida always seem to be way out of the ordinary, and the trend continues in this wild video of a hammerhead shark chasing it’s next meal – a massive tarpon.

Whitney Philips Watson shot the video while on a boat just a few hundred yards off the coast of Anna Maria Island on the Gulf side of the state, WTXL reports.

As the boat approached the scene, she saw the shark was right on the tail of a tarpon, a saltwater fist that can reach 8-feet in length and weigh over 250 pounds.

In the video, Watson films the two dive underneath the boat multiple times, causing her to beg not to get too close.

The wild encounter caused the two boaters to use some colorful language, so viewer discretion is advised:
