Livingston, Mont. – A key partnership between the Fly Fishing Show and the Clean Angling Coalition will bring the Inspect, Clean and Dry message to the winter show season. “Unfortunately, invasive aquatic species threaten our fisheries resources. Thoroughly cleaning gear is one of the best methods we have in preventing the spread of harmful algae, plants, snails and other hitch-hiking invaders,” according to Ben Furimsky, co-director of the show.
The Fly Fishing Show will educate anglers at its seven show locations across the U.S. on properly cleaning boots, waders, rods, reels, fly lines, boat bottoms, float tubes and other equipment that comes in contact with water with the Clean Angling brand and Inspect, Clean and Dry message.
“It is important that our industry stands together in educating anglers on the importance of cleaning their gear,” said Furimsky.
According to Leah Elwell, Clean Angling Coalition program manager, “The Fly Fishing Show enables us to directly reach tens of thousands of anglers at the largest fly fishing consumer show in key locations.”
The Fly Fishing Show features new industry products, educational activities and celebrity showcases. Shows in 2012 are scheduled for Denver, Colo.; Marlborough, Mass.; Somerset, NJ; Raleigh, NC; Lancaster, Penn.; Pleasanton, Calif.; and Pasadena, Calif. beginning Jan. 6 and concluding March 4.
