Ogden, UT – Salomon Sports, a leader in technical design and innovation in mountain sports, is proud to announce its Salomon Spikecross 3 CS has earned the 2011 Runner’s World International Editor’s Choice for Trail Shoes. Runner’s World, the worldwide authority on running information, highlights and reviews, announced the award at the Runner’s World International Shoe Summit at the ING NYC Marathon on November 4.

Voted on by an international jury of 15 editors, the Spikecross 3 CS was celebrated for its innovative take on traction and ability to safely grip and navigate various terrain with cushioning and confidence while being lightweight.

“The Spikecross shoe from Salomon was a huge hit,” says Runner’s World footwear editor Warren Greene. “I think the reason is that it’s truly applicable to the marketplace, since more people are running outside in the winter on steep icy trails where added traction is a must. There was a need for a shoe like this, and Salomon found a way to build it. They listened to runners, and I think that’s pretty cool.”

“This shoe is designed for a specific use, so in the broad scheme of things it may seem like an obscure choice, but the Spikecross is the perfect representation of what Salomon does best as a brand — combining sport insight and innovation to create hybrid products to serve the core of the trail running community,” says Jeff Dill, Salomon Category Marketing Manager of Trail Running. “We’re excited to see the international editors at Runner’s World recognize the trail running community by creating this award.”
