Michael Brown Named New Maine DIFW Fisheries Director

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is pleased to announce that Michael Brown has been named the Department’s new Fisheries Division Director.

Brown, who previously served for 23 years at the Maine Department of Marine Resources, began his new duties on Tuesday, December 27.

“I’m excited about this great new opportunity,” Brown said. “I enjoyed my years at the Department of Marine Resources, but I also was ready to welcome a new challenge. With a great fisheries staff already in place at MDIFW, I have no doubt this will be a great fit for me.”

As the Fisheries Division Director, Brown assumes the top administrative management position for the fisheries division within MDIFW’s Bureau of Resource Management.

Brown leaves his post as a Marine Resource Scientist at DMR, where he worked with the public, commercial fishing groups and non-government organizations to address fisheries issues concerning management and sustainability of marine and anadromous fish speices in Maine and New England.

A native of Bath, Maine, and graduate of the University of Maine, Brown is looking forward to a new challenge in fisheries biology.
