Rechargeable Devices Connect at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market with Solio and Suunto’s Latest Products

Solio, the decade-old leader in the hand-held battery packs and solar chargers category, brings its collection of chargers and lighting products to the 2012 Outdoor Retailer Winter Market (ORWM) tradeshow (booth 13303) this January 19-22. The brand proudly announces its chargers compatibility with several new products showcased for the first time at this year’s ORWM. Solio will exhibit in Liberty Mountain’s booth #13303.

Solio’s new BOLT, a powerhouse solar charger that marked the brand’s move away from auxiliary tips and adapters, works exclusively from the charging-device’s native USB cord. With an on-board battery and rotating solar panels, the Solio BOLT charges thousands of popular USB powered gadgets like the newest watch from Suunto (booth 19015), the leading maker of precision instruments for diving, training, mountaineering, hiking, skiing, and sailing.

Suunto will unveil its new Ambit, a GPS watch for explorers and backcountry enthusiasts that allows users to collect critical data on their adventures. Solio’s BOLT solar charger is a great option for making sure the Ambit, with its USB rechargeable battery, is always topped off with energy and ready to track the entire expedition.

The Ambit uses the new FusedSpeed technology, a feature combining the best of both GPS frequencies and accelerometer wireless technology to provide an optimized and fused signal with accurate and precise speed data, allowing users to monitor their travels with unprecedented accuracy. Other highlights include ABC Technology, a heart rate monitor, and information on changing weather conditions. All of these features are customizable through, Suunto’s social workout and activity tracking site.

The Suunto Ambit is a great tool for tracking your progress on any adventure, but when the expedition takes you far away from convenient power sources, Solio’s BOLT solar charger is the perfect solution for making sure the Ambit stays connected for the long haul. The BOLT, which can be charged from the sun or directly from a wall or USB outlet, connects to the Ambit’s very own USB charging cable for simple, optimized, on-the-go charging.

When the sun goes down, the BOLT’s battery can be recharged via its micro-USB port. From USB power, the battery charges in 4.5 hours. The BOLT uses a high temperature rated lithium ion-polymer battery. Unlike other battery chemistries, lithium-poly works perfectly for the high-heat of solar charging and Solio’s 60C specification means the heat of the sun never interrupts efficient solar charging. When the useful life of the rechargeable battery is over, the Solio BOLT battery is user-replaceable with just a few turns of a screwdriver.

The Solio Bolt ($70) is distributed by Liberty Mountain and available now at Sprint, Amazon, and REI stores in the United States and Mountain Equipment Co-op in Canada. The BOLT is also available at
