Big Buck Club to Hold Annual Event at Ashland University, Ohio

The 53rd Annual Buckeye Big Buck Club event that includes a banquet and awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18, at Myers Convocation Centeron the Ashland University campus.
The day will include a number of events, with doors opening at 9 a.m. There will be a scorer’s meeting at 10 a.m. followed by hunting seminars that will begin at 11 a.m. A general membership meeting will be held at 3 p.m., while the buffet style dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the awards program at 6:30 p.m. As always, dress is casual for the event.
According to Jon and Lori Byers, banquet chairmen and organizers of this year’s banquet, this year’s event will feature a deer head display of approximately 200 deer heads that will be open to the public. “We encourage all members, new and old, to bring their mount for display. If you have more than one club qualifier, then bring them all,” Lori Byers said.
Byers said Dr. Mike Tonkovich, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife Deer Project Leader, will be “The main speakers for the event are hunting celebrity Eddie Salter of Down and Dirty Game Calls and Dr. Tonkovich,” she said.
Also, many representatives and vendors from hunting and shooting sports industries will be in attendance. “In addition to the vendors and hunting and shooting experts, there will be hunting seminars throughout the day and they are all free,” she said.
The dinner is by ticket only and has to be purchased ahead of the event. No tickets will be sold at the door. Tickets for this year’s banquet dinner are $35 for adults and $25 for children under 12 years of age. New members must also purchase tickets.
