Learn Ice Fishing at Free Seminar in Pueblo, Colorado

   01.30.12

Families interested in learning how to ice fish are invited to a free seminar presented by Colorado Parks and Wildlife on Saturday, Feb. 4.  The seminar is limited to the first 10 people who register.

“Ice fishing is a great way to get outside and have some fishing fun during the winter,” said Colorado Parks and Wildlife District Wildlife Manager Jeremiah Johnson.  “Catching fish through the ice is a hoot.”

The class is a basic “Ice Fishing 101” aimed at novice anglers who are new to the sport.

“Ice fishing is a lot easier than some people think,” said Johnson.  “We will go over the basics at an indoor session at the Hunter Ed building in Pueblo, and then get some hands-on training at San Isabel Lake.”

Participants must provide their own transportation.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife will supply the fishing equipment, but anglers need to bring a lunch and make sure they dress in warm layers to stay comfortable on the ice.  A valid Colorado fishing license is required.
