Bird Program for Festival Planners Feb. 21 and 23 in Bloomington, Indiana

   02.06.12

A workshop teaching festival planners how to include programs about birds in their events will be offered Feb. 21 and 23, in Bloomington, at the Hilltop Garden and Nature Center.

Called the Flying WILD Bird Education Program for Festival Planners, the program runs from 6-9 p.m. both nights.  Similar in format to Project WILD, Flying WILD focuses on bird ecology, adaptations, behavior, conservation, and basic identification in the field. This particular workshop is specially designed for planners needing short programs or walk-up activities for festivals, fairs, nature centers or outreach events.

Upon completion of the workshop, participants should have a list of activities they are comfortable doing, have more confidence using binoculars, and know what to look for to identify a bird in the field or at a feeder.

As part of the workshop, participants will receive the Flying WILD activity guide. Cost is $20. Register by Feb. 17 by contacting the Natural Resources Education Center at (317) 562-1338 or at nrec@dnr.IN.gov.  Make checks payable to Indiana Natural Resources Foundation.
