Blue Force Gear, Inc. (www.blueforcegear.com) announced today that, as a tribute to those that serve on the home front, they will be giving 10% of proceeds from the sale of all Victory Series slings to the Spirit of Blue Foundation. The Victory Series slings are available in a either a Two-point or One-point variant. These slings utilize the same superior materials, robust construction and commitment to excellence as are used by Blue Force Gear to craft their UDC and VCAS lines, but with value engineered features that make them appropriate and affordable for individual officers and deputies. These slings have also been widely accepted by domestic law enforcement agencies that face ever increasing budget constraints.
“The Victory Series™ Slings were originally created to hit a more affordable price point so that the LE community could have access to a quality weapon sling for their patrol rifles. Now, 10% of proceeds from our Blue Force Gear Victory Series Sling sales will go towards the Spirit of Blue Foundation to help fund their Safety Grant Program. We are all excited that we can give back to those who keep us safe,” commented Ashley Burnsed, President of Blue Force Gear, Inc.
“When Blue Force Gear approached us with this opportunity we were honored by their commitment to give back to the Law Enforcement community,” stated Ryan T. Smith, Vice Chairman for the Spirit of Blue Foundation. “Not only is it wonderful to see a brand give back, but it feels very appropriate that the Victory Series, which was created with funding constraints in mind, would be the product from their line that contributes towards funding Safety Equipment Grants to agencies in need.”
The Spirit of Blue Foundation works as a national unifying organization for numerous law enforcement non-profits looking to conduct fundraising campaigns to generate funds for their own charitable causes, while the Foundation uses its portion of fundraising proceeds to enhance officer safety and vitality by awarding Safety Equipment Grants. In 2010 the Spirit of Blue awarded five Bushmaster patrol rifles to agencies at local and state levels. 2011 grant awards are due to be announced later in February.
2011 Statistics released by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, in conjunction with Concerns of Police Survivors, revealed the number of U.S. law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty totaled 173, a 13% percent increase over 2010. Firearm-related deaths reached 68, an increase of 15% for the same period. The reality of these statistics and the increasing number of underfunded law enforcement agencies across the country fueled the Spirit of Blue safety grant initiative.
Blue Force Gear, along with the Spirit of Blue Foundation, is asking consumers to ‘get in the Spirit of Blue’ and provide support for the law enforcement community through the purchase of Victory Series slings.
