2012 Maine Moose Permit Lottery Applications Now Available Online

Applications for this year’s lottery are now available online through the department’s website, www.mefishwildlife.com. Completing the application online is a convenience that thousands of hunters are using, because the forms are easy to fill out and they receive instant confirmation that they’ve been entered into the lottery.
The deadline for taking paper applications is April 2, 2012. The Online application period will close May 14, 2012.
If you applied for a moose permit last year or the year before, all of your information is pre-filled into this year’s online application. Type in your first name, last name and date of birth in the same way as in 2011 or 2010. The computer will look up your information. Just review your personal data, season and WMD choices and make any necessary changes. It’s easy!
The legislature has also made some positive changes for the 2012 Moose Permit Lottery:
Residents can purchase only one chance; this increases the value of bonus points for long time applicants.
Starting in 2011, applicants can skip a year and not lose their bonus points. Thus if you applied in 2010 but not in 2011, you still have your points when you apply in 2012. Bonus points are earned at the rate of 1 per year 1-5, 2 per year 6-10, 3 per year 11-15 and 10 per year 16
