Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will honor the service of its Region 3 Hunter and Bowhunter Education volunteers at an annual workshop and luncheon this Saturday, March 10, at the Holiday Inn-Bozeman. These volunteers help shape future Montana hunters, providing training in safety, ethics, conservation, and firearms and archery equipment. In Region 3 alone, these volunteers instruct about 1,000 students each year.

Earning special awards this year are 25 instructors with service ranging from 5 to 25 years. All service award recipients receive a plaque, while some reaching certain milestones receive gifts of appreciation including engraved knives, belt buckles, and more.

Instructors with 25 years of service being honored this year include: John Ralph of Butte, Bruce Metcalf of Butte, James McCoy, Sr. of Butte, Tom Carroll of Walkerville, Melvin Keininger of Butte, and Mark Petroni of West Yellowstone (please see the entire list of honorees below).

FWP is thankful to have hundreds of qualified instructors across the state, and always welcomes new additions to our ranks. For information on becoming a Hunter or Bowhunter Education instructor, call Andrea Jones in the FWP Region 3 Information and Education Office at (406) 994-6931.
