Wiley X Sponsored Drivers Dominate 2012 Daytona 500

This year’s incarnation of the Daytona 500 had it all — a 30-hour rain delay, a six-car crash on Lap 2, and a strange, fiery collision involving a driver and a jet-fueled track dryer.  Of course, there was also the usual brand of bumper-to-bumper, high-speed action that captures the attention of racing fans worldwide.  When it was all said and done, Wiley X sponsored driver Matt Kenseth took the checkered flag, the glory of winning NASCAR’s biggest event, and the early lead in the Sprint Cup points standings.

About the only “typical” thing about this Daytona 500 race was the strong showing by the group of top NASCAR drivers sponsored by performance protective eyewear manufacturer Wiley X, Inc.  In addition to Kenseth’s win (driving the No. 17 Roush Fenway Racing Ford), six of Daytona’s Top 10 finishers were drivers who depend on Wiley X’s exclusive High Velocity Protection (HVP) technology to perform at their best.  This Wiley X victory parade also included 3rd Place finisher Greg Biffle (No. 16 Roush Fenway Racing Ford), 4th Place finisher Denny Hamlin (No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota), 7th Place finisher Kevin Harvick (No. 29 Childress Racing Chevrolet), 8th Place finisher Carl Edwards (No. 99 Roush Fenway Racing Ford) and 9th Place finisher Joey Logano (No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota).

“Obviously, we couldn’t be more excited about this performance at Daytona and how these Wiley X drivers continue to challenge the competition and themselves,” said Wiley X Co-Owner Myles Freeman, Jr.  “We are honored to be associated with each of the professional race drivers who use and trust our unique brand of performance protective eyewear.  We’re looking forward to an exciting season and even greater things in the near future,” added Freeman.

Wiley X’s growing team of high-profile racers also includes Aric Almirola, Travis Kvapil, Michael McDowell, Joe Nemechek, David Ragan, Elliott Sadler, Scott Wimmer, Joey Coulter, Chad Hachenbracht, and Camping World Truck Series standout Ron Hornady.

For more than 25 years, Wiley X has built its reputation on providing advanced vision protection in the most challenging environments. Wiley X is the only premium performance sunglasses brand whose entire line meets the stringent ANSI-Z87 High Velocity and High Mass Impact Safety standards, providing wearers with vision protection that goes far beyond the damaging rays of the sun.  Wiley X is the only premium sunglass brand with this certification on every pair of sunglasses it makes.  This commitment is a primary reason why Wiley X is a leading provider of vision protection systems for elite U.S. military units and law enforcement agencies around the world.
