The Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) is pleased to announce that Justin Lawson has joined the organization as the Mid-South Regional Director. Lawson comes to QDMA from TruGreen LandCare, where he was an Account Manager.

“I’m a lifelong hunter, and I’m a strong supporter of the conservation mission of QDMA,” said Lawson, “I am passionate about leaving a hunting heritage for the next generation, and I’m excited to join the QDMA family.”

As QDMA’s Mid-South Regional Director, Lawson will work with the states of Arkansas, Kentucky and Tennessee out of Memphis, Tenn. Regional Directors support QDMA’s volunteer Branches in their grassroots fundraising and education efforts. They also help volunteers charter new Branches throughout the whitetail’s range.

“The activities of our QDMA Branches are key to our success as an organization, and our Regional Directors provide invaluable leadership and support in all aspects of Branch development and growth,” said QDMA Chief Operating Officer Bob Mazgaj. “We are delighted to have Justin joining our staff and stellar group of Regional Directors. In addition to being skilled at management, sales and service, Justin has a positive, outgoing and people-friendly personality that we feel will make him a very successful Regional Director.”

Lawson developed his passion for the outdoors growing up in Northeast Arkansas hunting with his father and grandfather. He has since lived in Memphis for most of his life, but he has maintained several connections in Arkansas as well. Lawson has dedicated many hours to multiple facets of hunting and conservation, and he credits his father and grandfather for providing an example of the importance of passing on the hunting tradition to the next generation.

Lawson comes to QDMA from TruGreen LandCare, where he had worked as an Account Manager since 2006 overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations for 40 commercial properties. There, he evaluated property needs, worked vendor expos, delivered recruitment presentations and expanded branch revenue by securing new enhancement sales and maintenance contracts all while building strong working relationships and ensuring great customer service.

Prior to his time at Tru Green LandCare, Lawson worked as a Landscape Supervisor for Pugh’s Landscape, where he assisted in coordinating the job schedule, executed purchase orders and assessed design plans.

Lawson earned his Associate of Applied Science degree in Landscape and Turfgrass Management at  State Technical Institute in Memphis in 2001. In 2004, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Contracting and Management from Mississippi State University.

Lawson and his wife of three years, Jane, have a four-month-old son, West. They are also proud owners of a 10-year-old chocolate Labrador named Hoss.
