Team International Training, Inc. (ITI) members Morgan Allen and Laura Torres-Reyes had a very successful match at the First National Championship of IDPA Puerto Rico, held in Caguas, Puerto Rico March 3rd, 2012. Allen won High Overall and ESP Division Champion, as well as Most Accurate, while Torres-Reyes took home High Lady.
“This was a very challenging match that had participants from Venezuela, Guatemala, the continental U.S. and Canada. It was highly technical and required skill and discipline to make every shot count,” remarked Torres-Reyes. “Congratulations to the very talented match directors Toni Dandreamatteo and Eliut Flores for such a successful match!”
“Echoing Laura’s comments, the inaugural National Championship of IDPA Puerto Rico showed what a club with just under a year of experience can do. Collectively, the stages were the most technically challenging that I’ve shot in a sanctioned match to date and the hospitality was equally as impressive,” commented Allen. “I owe finishing with a win and Most Accurate in the same match to diligent training that paired how to mentally manage difficult situations along with shooting technique. One without the other would have made for a far less than positive outcome in a match like this one … something a well-rounded training program seeks to address.”
Allen can be seen competing next at the FL State IDPA Championship in Clearwater, FL March 9th through 11th, 2012 where he will be defending his ESP Division win (High Overall) and Most Accurate Shooter designation from 2011. Torres-Reyes’ next competition will be at the Triple Crown II held in Frostproof, FL April 15th, 2012.
