Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green Scores 20 Podium Finishes on Final Day at Oak Hill

On the final day of racing in the GNC Finals at Oak Hill Raceway in Decatur, Texas, Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green scored 20 podium-finishes. Team Green’s Austin Forkner was the first to strike, taking home his second championship of the week in the 85 7-16 Open class. Adam Cianciarulo powered his KX™100 to the top of the championship podium twice, with wins in the 125 2-Stroke 12 & Up class and the Supermini 1 85-150 thru 16 class. Garrett Marchbanks piloted his KX™85 to the top of the podium in the 85 7-11 Mod class. Veteran racer Earl May pulled off an impressive performance scoring three championships in less than an hour in the 35+, 40+, and 45+ classes.

Riders on the Storm

When racers awoke for the final day of competition at Oak Hill, the air was balmy with temperatures hovering around the mid-70’s. However, within a couple hours a dark band of ominous clouds inundated the raceway and changed things quickly. Within minutes a wall of frigid air completely consumed the racetrack and temperatures immediately dropped to the high-40’s. Rain and hail followed shortly thereafter, but luckily Mother Nature decided to have mercy on the event and the rain abated almost as quickly as it came. With a newly watered track and cooler temperatures, racers wanted to keep the competition rolling and the event continued as planned. As the final motos wrapped up, most of the families had already packed up and began their trek toward next week’s amateur national event at Mill Creek MX in Pell City, Ala.
