Darn Tough Vermont, American manufacturer of the only premium, performance socks with an unconditional lifetime guarantee, has been named co-title sponsor of the 2012 Tecnu Darn Tough USARA Adventure Racing National Championships. Now in its 13th year, the USARA Adventure Racing National Championships is the premier amateur adventure racing event in the United States. This year’s race takes place October 11-13 in New York’s Catskill Mountains.
“After several years of being involved in adventure racing on a smaller scale it feels great to step up and support the National Championships,” said Ric Cabot, founder and president of Darn Tough Vermont. “These athletes encounter all types of conditions and engage in numerous physical activities during their races, putting our socks through the ultimate test. The positive feedback we’ve gotten from racers prompted us to make more of an investment in their growing sport.”
To earn a spot at the National Championship, teams compete in over 35 regional qualifying events throughout the year. In October, the top four teams from each region come together for a grueling 24-hour race that determines who will be crowned the National Champions. Competitors and fans can watch live coverage of the race on the USARA Nationals website (www.usaranationals.com) and can even follow and track the progress of their favorite teams.
“The feedback we’ve gotten from our racers over the past few years about Darn Tough Vermont socks convinced us that this product and company is a natural fit as a title sponsor of the National Championships,” said Troy Farrar, president of the USARA. “Racers are ecstatic about Darn Tough’s product and when we can form partnerships with the brands our athlete’s love, it’s a win-win for everyone. We look forward to their continued support of our rapidly growing sport”
