World’s Best Shooter Teams with Pursuit Channel

Doug Koenig and the Pursuit Channel have announced a multi-year agreement that brings the top professional’s breakthrough television series, Doug Koenig’s Championship Season, to the network beginning Q3 2012. Championship Season will be seen Fridays at 8:00 PM EST, with encores available Mondays at 11:00 AM and Wednesdays at 3:30 PM.
Koenig’s presence on Pursuit Channel will go beyond telecasts of Championship Season to include the role of on-air emissary for the network’s new Friday primetime shooting (and hunting) bloc. “The mission of the Pursuit Channel is strikingly important to those who really live to shoot and hunt, those compelled to pass our great outdoors heritage on to newcomers,” said Koenig. “Together with my partners like Leupold, Smith & Wesson, Hornady, Otis and TenPoint crossbows, I’m thrilled to be working with the Pursuit Channel.”
Koenig first came to competitive single-action pistol shooting as a rank-and-file hobbyist, sideling up to the counter of a gun store in 1987 for direction and encouragement. Soon his newfound passion for shooting a Model 1911 gave way to an obsession for acquiring accuracy and speed, paying off two years later with his first win in competition. One year later, Koenig would begin to mint his legend with a first-ever perfect score during the Bianchi Cup, a major that he has won an astounding 13 times. In addition to the NRA Bianchi Cup and the European Bianchi Cup (3), other Koenig wins and titles include: The Masters International Championship (18), NRA World Action Pistol Champion (four titles, with standing world and national records), World All-Around Champion (3), the Sportsman Team Challenge (15), the IPSC World Championship, the World Speed Shooting Open Championship (3) and the ESPN Great Outdoor Games (2).
