Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail Will Hit the Waters of Kerr Reservoir at Clarksville, Virginia

Coming up next weekend the Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail will hit the waters of Kerr Reservoir at Clarksville, Virginia April 14, 2012 in conjunction with the Lake County Sportsman’s Show.  This is the opportunity for local catfish anglers to compete for cash, prizes and a chance to advance to the Cabela’s King Kat Classic. This year’s Cabela’s King Kat Classic will be held at Selma, Alabama  September 27/28/29, 2012. Be sure to check out our new website at: www.kingkatusa.com. It’s a new site with new and exciting information on our events along with special information for catfish anglers everywhere.

Kerr Reservoir will bring new excitement to the list of outstanding waterways which have hosted the Cabela’s King Kat Tournament events with the worlds record Blue Catfish coming from these waters in June of 2011. Nick Anderson, a high school football coach from Greenville North Carolina was on a father and son fishing trip Kerr-Buggs Island Lake. Anderson caught the fish near the Goat Island area near Clarksville Virginia which will surely be a hot spot during the event.

Weigh-In Site

The tournament weigh-in will be held at the Lake County Sportsman’s Show where a crowd of up to 2,000 spectators are expected. Tournament hours are6:30 AMuntil3:00 PM. All anglers must be in weigh-in line by 4:00 PM with a 5 fish limit per team. To help preserve the sport only live fish will be weighed in and all fish will be released after the tournament. Anglers will be allowed to weigh in fish early due to the weigh in site and because all fish are required to be weighed in alive to help assure these fish will survive and be returned to the water safe and alive.  Special tanks will be set up at the weigh-in site to assure these fish stay healthy until released back into the water.  For a complete list of rules visit our website listed below or phone Cabela’s King Kat Headquarters at the number listed below.
