Pennaz Multimedia Launches Two New Series: Lake Commandos and Yamaha’s Coastal Chaos

   01.10.13

What happens when you dump two experienced anglers on an unfamiliar body of water? Do they catch fish…or bomb?

With the launch of Lake Commandos, Man vs. Lake vs. Man and Yamaha’s Coastal Chaos television/social media series, noted angling personality Steve Pennaz unleashes a fresh approach to outdoor programming. His goal: create fast-paced, entertaining, informative series for anglers.

“Today’s anglers are the most knowledgeable, best-equipped in history,” said Pennaz, who for 25 years served as the Executive Director of the North American Fishing Club.  “They know how to fish a crank or work a worm, but answering the question which bait when can be very tough to answer.”

Lake Commandos, Man vs. Lake vs. Man, is a freshwater series. Each week Pennaz invites a top angler to help unlock the secret for catching that day’s targeted fish. Viewers are provided a breakout of the lake or river that highlights key factors determining fish location (water clarity, average depth, primary forage, etc.), then encouraged to develop their own approaches before Pennaz and his guest share their own (and competitive) plans for the day.

“We want viewers and online followers to become personally vested in the series, and to contribute both on air and through our social media efforts,” said Pennaz. “The competition between anglers does more than enhance viewer interest, it allows us to provide series sponsors significant and effective product integration in every episode.”

Lake Commandos, Man vs. Lake vs. Man is sponsored by Ranger BoatsAquatekoYamaha OutboardsHumminbirdBerkley TrileneNanoFil, FireLinePowerBaitGulp!Abu Garcia, Johnson Tackle, SebileSpiderWireYeti Coolers, and Fishhound.

Berkley and Ranger Boats are both presenting sponsors.

“We’ve enjoyed a long, productive relationship with Steve,” said Pure Fishing Senior Director of Marketing John Bartow. “His vision for Lake Commandos is unique. It marries broadcast and social media distribution with content creation that we can utilize within our own properties. It’s a good fit.”

Yamaha’s Coastal Chaos with Capt. George Mitchell offers 100% saltwater content for 90 jam-packed seconds. It airs immediately following the credit roll for Lake Commandos.

“Our goal for Yamaha’s Coastal Chaos is twofold,” said Pennaz. “First, we wanted to positively impact the saltwater market. Secondly, we wanted to unleash the power of 2-Minute TV shows, which fit well into today’s viewing habits. We saw that in vignettes we produced years back for ESPN.”

Yamaha’s Coastal Chaos is hosted by Capt. George Mitchell, a highly-respected multi-species angler whose impressive resume bristles with tournament wins. He owns Fabulous Fishing Adventures, a successful charter service based in SE Florida. He also travels the country in support of Yamaha.

Lake Commandos and Yamaha’s Coastal Chaos are distributed nationally on Pursuit Network and TUFF TV, with multiple airings weekly on both networks.

Pursuit is the most widely distributed fishing and hunting television network in the world with 38 million households. It’s the only outdoor network delivered on satellite providers DISH (channel 240) and DirecTV’s (channel 608) BASIC packages. Lake Commandos and Yamaha’s Coastal Chaos air Tuesdays evenings at 8:30 EST as part of the popular Ranger Block, as well as two other times.

TUFF TV is the first digital broadcast network to offer original programming targeted at men and their specific pursuits, interests, and hobbies they are passionate about. TUFF TV  includes a unique and synergistic combination of programming genres aimed at the male demographic. TUFF TV provides the first-ever mix of these specific genres on one network. Programming content consists of Sports, Lifestyle, Drama, Reality, Talk, Specials, and Movies.

“We were very impressed when Steve approached us with Lake Commandos. His program provides a fresh and interesting take on the outdoors genre. This is definitely not your average fishing show,” said Lou Seals, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of TUFF TV. “We look forward to seeing this series become the success we envision it will,” Seals added.

Lake Commandos and Yamaha’s Coastal Chaos air multiple times weekly, including Saturday evenings at 6:00 PM EST.

“I challenge everyone to ‘Go Commando’,” said Pennaz with a straight face.
