The new Abu Garcia Revo MGXtreme low profile reel takes extreme to the next level. Weighing in at just 4.9oz – a full .5 ounces lighter than the standard MGX – the MGXtreme continues the Revo legacy by pushing the limits on what is possible with design and engineering.
Equipped with a 10 bearing system, the MGXtreme starts with seven stainless steel HPCR™ bearings + one roller bearing. The addition of two Ceramilite hybrid ceramic spool bearings gives anglers ultimate distance and control throughout the cast. A highly ported spool works in tandem with the Ceramilite bearings to deliver precision casting, thanks to a 10% reduction in weight over the standard MGX spool. One-piece X-Mag™ alloy frame and lighter-than-aluminum C6 carbon sideplates exemplify our dedication to functionality and performance.
The Revo MGXtreme features the externally adjustable Infinitely Variable Centrifugal Brake system (IVCB-IV™). Unlike traditional centrifugal brakes that require anglers to remove the sideplate for adjustment, a simple turn of the external dial allows for on-the-fly changes to braking force. Twenty-eight positions of adjustment, compared to standard centrifugal brakes that are either on or off, allow anglers to cast a wide variety of bait sizes – especially extremely light baits.
The MGXtreme is fitted with round EVA knobs for comfort. An additional set of flat EVA knobs is also included, giving anglers the choice of a customized setup. The Carbon Matrix™ drag system and aircraft grade aluminum main gear offer the perfect balance of lightweight performance and strength. A bent carbon handle and drag star reduce overall weight and position the angler’s hand closer to the rod.
The Revo MGXtreme has a line capacity of 115 yards of 12-pound monofilament or 110 yards of 30-pound braid. This model is currently available in a 7.1:1 gear ratio in right hand retrieve. MSRP is $499.95.
