Ranger Boats Release New 240 Bahia in 2013

All-New Ranger Bay Boat to Debut at Miami International Boat Show, February 14-18

For many anglers across the country, versatility has become the most important quality when shopping for a new boat. Ranger’s new 240 Bahia offers exactly that – the versatility to fish the shallows and make offshore runs in the same boat without sacrificing features or performance. Appealing to hardcore guides, professional fishermen and families alike, the new 240 is based on the popular and proven hull design of Ranger’s 220 Bahia, introduced in 2010. The new design highlights Ranger’s 45-year commitment to building the highest-quality, strongest-performing boats on the water.

“This boat is great for anyone, from the entry-level guy on up. You can be ready to fish in this boat for around $45,000 – roughly half of what other brands want for their similarly equipped bay boats,” said Capt. Artie Price Jr., a 7-time winner on the Professional Tarpon Tournament Series and Ranger Pro who has spent the last three seasons competing and guiding anglers in the 220 Bahia. “Compare the price of the boat to what you get in terms of versatility, a smooth, dry ride and the overall quality of a Ranger boat. No one else has a boat that can deliver everything the Bahia does.”

Measuring 23 feet, 4 inches and rated for 250 horsepower, the 240 Bahia is available with a wide range of precision-matched outboards and comes standard with a full complement of must-have fishing features. This includes a 9-foot rod locker, eight stand-up rod tubes mounted at the console plus a wealth of integrated, gel-coated storage lockers on the front deck and at the stern. The custom design is further equipped with stainless steel compression lid latches, a pair of aerated baitwell/livewells, built-in anchor storage and a pultruded fiberglass transom.

At the redesigned console, which sports improved ergonomics and increased protection from the elements, the 240 Bahia offers a full array of gauges and rocker switches as well as space to flush mount modern, large screen electronics. The cockpit is further highlighted by a custom, marine-upholstered leaning post with four additional rod holders. Passenger seating is integrated in front of the console with additional bench seating available at the stern. Easy access to batteries and breakers is also available through the access hatch near the transom.

Drafting in as little as 13 inches of water, the 240 Bahia is equally at home fishing shallow backcountry as it is on open water. The layout offers generous amounts of fishing space, plus an elevated bow casting platform for better visibility when sightfishing. Available in six different color packages, the 240 Bahia also offers numerous factory-installed options such as T-Tops, shallow water anchor systems, on-board chargers, trolling motors, and trim tabs.

“The layout of the 240 Bahia makes all the difference: take it shallow and fish for redfish and snook and in the afternoons run offshore and fish the rigs – there’s plenty of room for everything you need to do both,” Price said. “With the 250-horsepower engine, the boat will run about 61 mph – which is strong, especially since it can handle rough water so well and still float in shallow water. But it runs well with a 200-horsepower engine, too, and that will definitely help cut down on the fuel bill.”

The new 240 Bahia also comes paired with its own custom-built RangerTrail trailer. Designed to perfectly match the boat to ensure years of smooth, easy towing and maneuvering, the Bahia’s aluminum trailer is equipped with LED lights, aluminum wheels and the COOL Hub lubrication system as standard equipment. Designed and built in the same factory and to the same exacting specifications as all Ranger boats, RangerTrail trailers are custom aligned with individually balanced wheels, feature swing jacks that retract flush to the frame as well as torsion axle suspension and locking, swing-away tongues. With matching, stainless steel fenders and matching, full-size spare, the RangerTrail trailer delivers peace of mind when trailering and complement the striking good looks of Ranger boats.
