First Descents Seeks Adventure in South America

First Descents, a non-profit providing outdoor adventure programs for young adults with cancer announces it will be holding an FDX program Patagonia, South America.

FDX is centered on pursuing life-long adventure, connecting with fellow cancer survivors and continuing to live the spirit of FD. FDX trips are for third-time returning participants, as well as donors, caregivers, partners and spouses of FD alum. The program is known as an incredible opportunity for FD participants to share with their support teams the powerful experiences they’ve had at First Descents.

First Descents is partnering with Bio Bio Expeditions to provide a week-long mutli-sport adventure in Patagonia. March 6-14, FDX participants will embark on the adventure of a lifetime. They will fly into Bariloche and start their adventures with a float on the Futaleufu River into Chile. They will be rafting, sea kayaking, inflatable kayaking, mountain biking and horseback riding in some of the most spectacular scenery in the world.

“We are excited to continue expanding into the global arena,” says Whitney Lange, Director of Programs for First Descents. “This is the first time we’ve held a Patagonia program and it will be a wonderful treat for some of our alum to reconnect and experience our FDX program.”

The trip itinerary is subject to weather conditions but you can read more here. If you are interested in speaking to a participant of the FDX Patagonia program please contact Hilary Hutcheson at Hilary@outsidemedia.com.

First Descents is a non-profit organization offering young adults with cancer a free outdoor adventure experience designed to empower them to climb, paddle and surf beyond their diagnosis, defy their cancer, reclaim their lives and connect with others doing the same.
