Gun Girl Radio – Our Favorite Shooting Sports: 3-Gun w/Dianna Liedorff
OutdoorHub 04.01.13
This week on Gun Girl Radio, Randi Rogers and Julie Golob have a special guest from Team FNH, USA Dianna Liedorff. Together, the three ladies discuss another of their favorite shooting sports, 3-Gun. While Randi is gearing up for her 2nd official 3-gun match, Julie is sticking close to home for now since Baby Golob will be joining the family soon. Di joins in to explain all she knows about the 3-Gun shooting sport. Di is a sponsored shooter from team FNH USA.
Dianna first gives us a brief history of how she got into shooting and then takes us through a discussion of one of the most diverse shooting sports. The rifle, pistol and shotgun are all used within the 5 stage course of 3-Gun competitions. They discuss scoring of the matches, division of people you compete against, what to take and how to get into the sport. Di also lets us in on which guns she personally takes to competition.
The conversation is then turned to 3-Gun Nation. Di tells us how it all started out as a tv crew following 3-Gun competitions, became its own show and continues to grow from there. 3-Gun Nation is now a stand alone TV show that can be found on the Sportsman channel and has a magazine to accompany it as well. They continue discussing ladies within the 3-gun sport. 3-Gun Nation is helping to grow the number of women in the sport by having a pro tour and a divisional tour. They are providing the top woman shooter in the Pro Series a $25,000 check.
Dianna gives us suggestions for getting involved in matches. Some suggestions given are going to Brian Enos Forums to help find matches and schedules, knowing what your gun will do at different yardages, what ammo your guns like, asking questions of others around, and preparing yourself mentally for the fact that the match is a different atmosphere for shooting that may affect your abilities.
